One of the main points to be tackled on Wednesday by the Supreme Council for National Defence (CSAT) regards the analysis of the need for a new energy policy of Romania, President Traian Basescu told an international conference on energy in Central and South-Eastern Europe.
Basescu added that a political decision regarding this matter is already taken.
„Romania will make a maximum effort to continually diminish its energy dependence until zero level, but this is a long-term policy. The first steps are taken, as we aim to reexamine Romania’s energy policy,” said Basescu.
He added that the Romanian authorities will reconsider the energy policy and see how feasible and profitable rethinking electricity generation using coal from domestic production will be in accordance with the predictable energy price developments in the following 20 years.
He also explained that seeking renewable energy sources other than nuclear energy is still of interest and Romanian authorities will give it a thought.
„Romania has an extraordinary resource on which both the private and the public sector will have the capitalise in the following five years, namely increasing energy efficiency. This is one of Romania’s big resources. By switching to new technology, and thermally insulating its housing stock, Romania may retrieve very much of the energy it is now wasting,” said Basescu.

My life’s been unremarkable these days. Nothing seems important. Whatever.
Basically not much notable happening worth mentioning. Eh.
I’ve more or less been doing nothing worth mentioning.
So it goes. I’ve just been letting everything happen without me lately.
Pfft. I haven’t gotten anything done today.
