Reactors 3 and 4 of the nuclear power plant in Cernavoda, south-east of Bucharest, will be commissioned in 2013, Gabriel Burlacu, adviser with the Ministry of Economy and Trade, told on Friday a EU-COFILE seminar, organized Nov. 15-19 in Sinaia by Alpha Bank, Romania’s Central Bank and the Romanian Association of Banks.
The building at the same time of the two reactors costs 2.2 billion euros.
Burlacu said that the atomic energy produced by all the four reactors of the plant in Cernavoda will contribute 36 percent to the energy generated in Romania. He added that reactor 2 of Cernavoda will start production on June 23, 2007.
Thirteen firms qualified for the finalization, commissioning and operation of units 3 and 4 of Cernavoda, i.e. AES Corp. (US), Alro Slatina (Romania), TESS Conex-ASAM-Iasi Consortium (Romania), international Consortium Ansaldo (Italy) – AECL (Canada), International Unit Investments Consortium (Luxembourg) – Dogan Enerji Yatirimlari/Dogus Holding (Turkey), Electrabel (Belgium), Electrica Bucharest (Romania), ENEL (Italy), E.ON Energie (Germany), Gabriel Resources (Canada), Iberdrola (Spain), KHNP (South Korea) and RWE Power (Germany).
