Romania needs funds and strategies to develop the domestic IT products and services market after accession to the European Union, Minister of Communication and Information Technology Zsolt Nagy stated on Tuesday at the opening of the 12th edition of the Romanian Computers Show (ROCS).
Although the IT&C sector is the most dynamic in economy, with significant growth rates and highest drawn in direct investments, it is still ridden by a serious problem: the hardware to software ratio (which is 65 to 35 percent), in reverse to the EU proportion. „This does not mean that we should downsize the hardware component, but develop the software one with solutions of our own tailored to the needs of the market,” said the Communications Minister.
„Only for the development of IT services and products in central administration, investments scheduled for the next period (2007-2008) amount to over one billion euros,” specified the Minister. These investments will be directed towards border securing, healthcare, pensions and finance.
ROCS 2006, that takes place in Bucharest between November 21 – 24, is one of the most important IT&C Business@business events in Romania; organizer of the show is IDG Romania.
The 12th edition of the event, the last before Romania joins the EU, brings to the attention of expert circles the following major subjects that cover the whole industry, specifically: Enterprise Mobility and Wireless (platforms, applications, access equipment, case studies), data security, internet, web services and interoperability, security management; Storage, Networking & Disaster recovery; Networking management, Infrastructures and Services: all IP models, broadband, data center, convergence, equipment and devices; Business Integrated Solutions: ERP/CRM/BI, business applications for various professional vertical designs; Services-oriented architecture: the major transformation of the business-IT relation; the future of Software as a Service; a broad array of applications for the government, financial, education, production and telecoms sectors.
For the first time in the ROCS record, this year’s edition has two national days: Turkey’s Day (on November 22) and Hungary’s Day (on November 23). ROMPRES
